What is Tensegrity Repair Series?

One of the most unique and profound practices I learned at my Yoga Therapy training in Victoria, BC was the Tensegrity Repair Series and I’m so excited to bring this series to Portland! The Tensegrity Repair Series was created by Gioia Irwin and I learned it from Michelle Schroeder, one of her students. When we practice TRS, we come from a place of inquiry which helps to calm the nervous system. We work at 60%-70% of our ability, creating safety in the body and nervous system, so that we can repair, rehydrate, strengthen and release our muscles and fascia. Most of the movements in the series are done on the back with a few side lying poses and some seated work.

Who should do the Tensegrity Repair Series?

All bodies would benefit from the slow, gentle movements of the Tensegrity Repair Series. Gioia created the series after decades of practicing traditional yoga asana had left her body over-stretched and in pain, so it’s great for yogis and yoga teachers who are looking for a different type of movement practice that supports and repairs the body. Bodies with injuries, with tension and tightness, and over-taxed nervous systems will also benefit from the practice. The hardest part about the Tensegrity Repair Series is moving at 60%-70% of your ability instead of 90%-100%.

When/Where is this being offered?

The first series will take place at Breathe in St Johns and will start April 19th. See my shop to get the dates and to register. Drop me a note on my contact page with any questions.
