Therapeutic Yoga

for Pain, Anxiety & Overwhelm

Transformation doesn’t happen overnight. (I know, it’s a bummer.) If you are looking to transform your relationship to pain, anxiety, and/or overwhelm, it will take effort and devotion. It will require you to show up for yourself on a regular basis. You will need to learn ways to move and rest that cause less pain in your body as well as learn to be with physical and mental discomfort without becoming consumed by it.

If you are tired of being promised “quick fixes” for your pain, anxiety, overwhelm or aging body, are ready to prioritize your own physical and mental health instead of putting everyone else first, and are ready to create a gentle yoga habit that will support you physically, mentally and spiritually as you navigate the inevitable ups and downs of life:

What makes practicing yoga with me different?

  • prioritizing doing what’s right for you in the moment, NOT performance or comparison (to others or your previous abilities)

  • focus on engaging your relaxation response (parasympathetic nervous system engagement)

  • no promises of a quick fix to your condition or symptoms

  • practices emphasizing acceptance and wholeness

  • learn and practice practical tools to self-soothe for flare-ups, pain and anxiety

  • NOT a workout: focus on body, mind and spirit

“Practicing yoga with Sarah is like stepping off of the roller coaster I didn’t even realize I was on! My Homecoming membership has helped me tremendously with my anxiety levels. It helps me to refocus my thoughts on the more positive.”

— Homecoming member

You’re ready to try something new

Does this sound familiar? You’re exhausted. You’re in pain. Your stress levels are off the charts. You want to move your body, but your body has changed and you’re not exactly sure how to move it anymore. And anyway, you watch the news and it’s so depressing, what’s the point in caring for yourself when there is so much suffering in the world??

“I can’t say enough about Sarah’s deep listening skills, responsiveness, and gentle, thoughtful approach to healing through yoga. For many years, she has met me on the mat with new ideas, empathy and effective strategies for living with chronic pain, grief, anxiety, insomnia and depression.”

— Yoga Therapy Client

Therapeutic yoga can help you experience the highest expression of health available to you in the moment. It can repair your relationship with your body. Yoga therapy works on the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual levels, because it’s all connected, and changes on one level can create changes on all levels.

“Sarah's knowledge and teaching always seems to unlock my tension and pain and allows me to feel more relaxed, balanced, and stronger physically and mentally.”

— Tamara in Portland

I don’t offer quick fixes. I work with people who understand that aging, illness, and suffering are not just a part of every life, but also can be portals to transformative learning.

Yoga Therapy is NOT a replacement for physical therapy and/or mental health counseling. I am not a licensed physical or mental health care provider, I am a certified yoga therapist with the International Association of Yoga Therapy.
